Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Goshen Trail is not maintained as far as I know. Summit Trail has a few large walkunders that have been trimmed. Lots of erosion from lack of water bars and people walking around wet/muddy areas. The corridor is also pretty brushy higher up.

Comments
Comments: Todays office was Mt. Sunapee to primarily walk Goshen Trail for the SNHTG as I'd never been on it.

I did this loop by starting with the road walk portion first, as I didn't want to walk uphill for 1.7 mi. at the end! Use caution if doing this walk as Brook Rd. has no shoulders and cars zip around the curves.

Goshen Trail was as advertised. It's an old logging/ski area access road that is heavily eroded and washed out most of the way. I'm about six feet tall and one trench section was over my head. Portions of it were a running stream. Lots of mud. It's never steep but the constant rocky footing is a bit tiring. I've read some suggestions about removing this from the guide but I'm hesitant about removing "legacy" trails like this one. We'll see.

Summit Trail had copious amounts of both water and mud, especially in the upper half. There are a few good mud pits not far below the summit. I only spotted a few water bars and they were full of debris.

I was hoping for some nice views from the summit on this rain-free day but the humidity and haze were so thick I could barely see the lake.
