 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Two cars in the Rob Brook lot at 8:30am; none at 3pm. All kinds of room at the Sawyer Pond trailhead. |
|
 | Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail |

 | Recommended Equipment: |

 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Swift River crossing was ok. Coming out of the woods and crossing to the trailhead (finished in this direction), found a decent area to wade across about 100 yards upstream. Almost hip deep at its deepest point. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
All trails were in great shape. No water, just one tiny section of mud on the Sawyer Pond trail. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Brunel was quite steep on the approach to Owl’s Cliff and again going up to Tremont. Everything else would be easy and dog friendly. |
|
 | Bugs: |
The bugs were brutal on the morning walk on Rob Brook Road and eased up once I got into the woods. They were with me all day. Annoying. |

The Rob Brook Road ‘trail’ was a quick and easy walk. Bugs made it less enjoyable. Saw a bull moose (no photo) about 1.5 miles in. He must have heard me coming because he was headed in the other direction just 50ish yards ahead of me. He trotted into the woods and disappeared. On the Brunel trail, the approach to Owl’s Cliff was steeper than I expected…same with the final section to Mt Tremont. I suppose that the high temps and humidity didn’t help either. Good views. Didn’t see anyone all day. On the way out, I decided to continue on Brunel to Sawyer Pond, through the river, then a road walk back to the Rob Brook trailhead. A super nice hiker lady turned her car around on the Kanc to offer me a ride. Yes, please! She had just done Pine Bend Brook/N. Tripyramid/Sabbaday Brook and the road walk between those trailheads, so she knew that an asphalt trudge was not a lot of fun today. |
