 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Third car in the lot at 6:15am at Ravine Lodge. There were about half a dozen in the hiker parking area at 4pm. No cars at the small turnout near the south trailhead for the Tunnel Ravine Trail. |

 | Surface Conditions: |
Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant |

 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Not surprisingly, recent rains meant that every water crossing on Tunnel Brook Trail that is mentioned in the White Mountain Guide required a ford. No rock-hopping today! I also forded the crossing of Tunnel Brook at the start of the Benton Trail. Despite the high water, I found that all 8-9 (I lost track) fords were straightforward and comfortable. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
All of the precipitation lately has put waterbars to the test. The ones on Hurricane, Tunnel Brook, and Asquam-Ridge (below Waternomee in particular) could use some love. I was able to unplug a few.
There is a gnarly duck-under on Beaver Brook not far above the Asquam-Ridge junction.
There is a very large climb-over on Asquam-Ridge between the first bridge over the Baker River and the "Trap's Turnpike" sign |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |

|
 | Bugs: |
I got swarmed a few times and received a few mosquito bites, but overall it wasn't too bad.
I did eat every spider web from the Ravine Lodge to the old Tunnel Brook Road. Blech. |

Great day and plenty of solitude on the quieter trails of Moosilauke. |
