Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: One rock hop, but plenty of running water on trail situations and boggy areas
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A couple of blowdowns. Good sign, visible from the road. Thank you.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Should be fine, but three things. 1. End of trail near Carter Notch Road is part of a privately owned wildlife preserve. Several "No Hunting" signs, dogs are not mentioned; but please be courteous. 2. Plenty of muck for them to mess up your interior upon return. 3. Tall grass = TICKS!
Bugs
Bugs: As already mentioned, ticks. Plenty of skeeters out yesterday.

Comments
Comments: Wow! Someone else was there yesterday (Gordo's report)? Ours was strictly an out and back, we started on Rt 16 and went to the end on Carter Notch Road. Took a picture of the description in the WMG. This was helpful, as there were some obscure turns and places where you're not sure if you are still on the right path. Trail coincides with some of the cross country ski trails in a few places.

First section is very steep, but the brook is beautiful. There is a small memorial to someone named Rosemary (forgot her last name) right before the trail levels off. Some elegant windchimes and a small stained glass heart. Shortly after is the brook crossing. Pretty mix of woods varying from place to place. Ski trail sections were very grassy in some parts (check for ticks) and extremely boggy in others. These are areas NOT loved by hikers, but definitely loved by mosquitos. Not sure if these areas are more tolerable during less rainy times. You WILL get your feet wet on this one. Seemed to take forever to get to Carter Notch Road, but the way back just flew (except for the steep section). No views, like the neighboring Hall's Ledge Trail, but the woods and the open spaces have their own beauty.
