Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The bridge out on Lincoln Woods is very easily crossed on rocks. Then the two crossings on the Lincoln Brook trail before the Brutus bushwhack split were a little more challenging. Wide steps and hopping and only got mildly wet, pick your path carefully
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Tons of blowdowns on the Black Pond Trail and the bushwhack after. A couple more awkward step overs but mostly just tedious. Lots of water running down the slide as it was raining most of the day

Bugs
Bugs: Just a few mosquitoes at the times I stopped

Comments
Comments: What a day for Owl's Head! Raining all the way up with some breaks as I headed down. The trails were certainly wet and muddy. Lincoln Woods was smooth sailing then onto Black Pond and the bushwhack/ herd path trail where there was significant mud and wet spots, as well as on the Lincoln Brook trail. Some muddy spots do have less muddy herd paths around them but this was a real wet muddy kinda day. Took the Brutus bushwhack up which was steep and real slick soil in spots. Path up Owl's Head was steep at first then leveled out. I then took the slide down - a real good stream running down the slide and obviously lots of loose rock but I was taking my time and appreciating that view of the Lafayette range. Actually snagged a little sunshine too! I found this to be a very peaceful and mild hike, lots of miles of solitude. I already look forward to doing it again on a more dry day!
