Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I parked in the parking area but the road is washed out and I’d be wary of bringing a low clearance car down it. Mid clearance should be okay with caution. I’m also not entirely sure how 2WD would do on the road as although it’s not that steep, it’s pretty rocky and also felt a bit soft due to the rain. The guidebook mentions being able to park at the jct of Mountain Rd and Tarlton Rd but I don’t recall a clear place to park. I was the only car in the dirt lot which had room for about a dozen.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: According to the guidebook, the only one that’s not bridged is Blake Brook I think, and I don’t even remember rock hoping across that.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The roads (Tarlton Rd, Mill Pond Trail, and much of Neville Ridge Trail) are not blazed but obviously trivial to follow. At a sharp turn on Neville Ridge Trail, there’s a sign. Mill Sluice Foot Trail is blazed in orange and as is Neville Ridge Scout Trail and the portion of Neville Ridge Trail that’s a footpath I believe. Blazing wasn’t as frequent as the other trails I’d been on earlier in the day but was still probably more frequent than most trails in the White Mountains. I don’t recall any blowdowns beyond perhaps trivial stepovers.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Good trails for dogs and I believe there weren’t any restrictions regarding them posted anywhere.
Bugs
Bugs: Too rainy for ‘em
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: None

Comments
Comments: Fifth and final SNH redline of the day after after Oak Hill, Broken Ground, Jerry Hill, and Great Hill. Note the comments above regarding the road being washed out. I descended the road slightly until turning right onto Mill Sluice Foot Trail which was pleasant. There’s a signed but very obscure spur to the old spur 0.4mi in. The footbed appeared to be nonexistent at time so just carefully look for and follow the blue flagging. You’ll soon reach Mill Pond Trail at the northern end of Mill Pond. The trail is an old road and the spur is also an old road though not signed or terribly obvious so keep an eye out for it if you’re redlining. As I reached the road (which I think is still technically Tarlton Rd at this point, not a trail) I turned left, then quickly right onto Neville Ridge Scout Foot Trail…which was also a road for a short ways before turning right off the road/snowmobile trail and onto a foot trail. Overall, the trail was gradual, but had some PUDS I thin and definitely had a steeper pitch or two.

It was raining lightly when I started and the summit was in cloud when I arrived so unfortunately I was not treated to a view; first time this during this rainy day so I suppose I lucked out over all! The orange blazing continued for a ways from the summit along Neville Ridge Trail until it reached the road and turned right. The trails were wet and I believe the roads were soft/muddy at times but I don’t recall the ground conditions very well. The road also had some minor PUDS. My phone died so I don’t have exact Gaia stats but it would have been something like 5.25mi, 550ft of gain, and took me roughly 2hrs to complete.
