Bugs
Bugs: Yes, the black flies were out and ferocious at times once we got to Little Haystack and especially bad on our descent this morning from the hut.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: A young hiker in a school group left his phone at the hut. We didn’t take it with us. Luckily about halfway down it was noticed and one of the very fit adults with the group, ran up to retrieve it. She then passed us again on her way back to the group. Nice job young lady!

Comments
Comments: A wonderful strenuous hike up Falling Waters. The waterfalls were all spectacular. This trail was surprisingly dry with easy water crossing for this time of year. We only encountered a little bit of snow just before the final approach to Haystack which was quite useful to cool off slightly as the temps approached 90 across the ridge! The Franconia Ridge Trail was dry and there are some great attempts to protect the delicate environment up here. From the summit, Greenleaf Trail is quite steep and very dry which makes for careful foot placements to tree line. It’s quite a stunning trail with all the views in front of you. We stayed at Green Hut on opening night and the Croo were wonderful! Our group had great night overlooking the beautiful high ridge we we had traversed. that Yes, folks. Blankets and pillow were provided! Old Bridal path was in good condition with very little mud as you got closer to the bottom.
