Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: First water crossing was passable with rock hopping and trees. The second crossing was even easier to rock hop. I think there may have been 3 big rocks that I crossed on.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Big tree down about half mile in. Easy enough to go around and then under. Seemed like it was cleaned up a bit more on our way back down. There were a couple others, but easy enough to step over.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw a few friendly pups. There are a bunch of small, sharp rocks after 2.5 miles that could be tricky for some dogs, but they seemed fine with them.
Bugs
Bugs: Vampire sucking black flies! Head net would be helpful. Some mosquitos as around 4pm.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Black Nike sneakers, black socks and a pair of black glasses

Comments
Comments: The trail was somewhat muddy the first mile in, but the first 2.5 miles was such a fun walk. Pretty flat, gradual grade, soft on the feet. Used rocks and trees to get over the first water crossing. The second water crossing was even easier. Then the next 2.8 miles was straight up with lots of little ankle biting stones and rocks. There were a few patches of snow and ice, but easy to navigate around so no traction/spikes necessary. There was plenty of water to filter. It took us 8 hours, but we stopped at the ledges for lunch, would have been the perfect spot for lunch, but got attacked by black flies, and then stayed at the deck for at least an hour. It was also closer to 11 miles than 10. Well maintained trail. Thank you trail maintainers. Great day!
