Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked at Nineteen Mile. Plenty of space. Stopped at Great Gulf to use the outhouse and it was FULL! I believe that it was overflow parking for something that was going on at Joe Dodge. We walked through Joe Dodge and all the parking was taken in there, too.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Stable), Snow/Ice - Monorail (Unstable)
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Easily hopped
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Lots of spring cleanup needs to happen on every trail except Nineteen Mile. Still way too much snow on Carter Dome to attempt maintenance. Many trees down along the ridge, but the worse one is on the Zeta Pass portion of CD. Large walk-around with a herd path.

Comments
Comments: No snow until 3650’ on Imp. The first snow in this section was quite unstable with lots of running water underneath. The higher we went, the firmer the monorail. Carter-Moriah over to Zeta Pass and up to Hight was a mixture of firm monorail and bare ground. From Hight to Carter Dome there was A LOT of snow (several feet deep most of the way). It was softening up in the afternoon so slow going because you really want to stay on the monorail or else you’ll be postholing. Down Carter Dome trail was softening up, too. We were happy that the snow ended as soon as we were descending through Zeta Pass. Spikes off for the rest of the hike.

If it warms up, this hike will become extremely tedious. If everything refreezes, go for it.
