Comments: OTHH group took the ski trails up for a change. I think I prefer a normal trail through the woods. In particular, the fairly unbroken steep upward slope taken for the first half of the walk up provided little in the way of flat spots for feet to land on fairly flat spots, leading to sore Achilles tendons. I found myself stepping nearly sideways up much of that slope. On a normal trail, there are the normal collections of boulders and tree roots that can be used much like a staircase, providing "nature's heel lifters." On the trip back down, we took a different ski trail instead of that steep part. Keep in mind that the low brush on the ski trails is regrowing rapidly, some of which can scratch up bare legs quite badly. Otherwise, the trip to the top provided great long distance views. There was a very cool, stiff breeze atop the summit tower.
