Comments
Comments: We went up the Arrow Slide and took the left fork, so I can't speak to the climb up to North Hancock on the loop trail. No snow on the slide or the top of the bushwhack which drops you off at the viewpoint. We donned spikes to climb from the view to the summit of North and then kept them on over to South and most of the way down South. There is still a lot of snow on the ridge. The monorail is fairly thick (almost two shoe widths most places). As it warms up in the afternoon, the top layer becomes slippery slush. Poles are definitely helpful. Coming down South there were many places where the trail had steps in the snow, which was a great help. Looking forward to the spring conditions ending. Saw a few groups of underprepared hikers. One set halfway across the ridge with no traction, shorts and tank tops. Another older couple with no traction and no real idea of what the hike entailed. We talked to them at the first water crossing and I think they probably turned around before getting up into the snow (hopefully).
