Comments
Comments: With a very early start I began in the dark from Ferncoft. I originally planned to go up Diceys Mill to Tom Wiggin and come back via Blueberry Ledge but the Wonalancet river was roaring in the dark when I got there. Not wanting to cross the river at Diceys Mill in the dark I opted to go up and down via Blueberry Ledge. Down low there was a little snow but above the Tom Wiggin traction was needed. The dusting of snow on the ice made for tricky walking. The thick ice on the ledges before the Whiteface summit required great caution even with microspikes. The chimney wasn't too bad though with only a little ice at the beginning.

The views were good off and on. The dark clouds were really moving in an out so one minute it was sunny and the next it was cloudy. I saw several groups headed up with high hopes. Sorry to the lady who didn't see me coming down. I didn't see anything (really).
