Comments
Comments: This was a spectacular, challenging day. Lowe's Path was wet most of the way up, with patches of snow and ice beginning at 3400ft; micro-spikes came on and off, on and off, etc. After Abigail Adams things changed: the wind came up and the snow became much deeper and softer. Sadly, I hadn't brought my snow shoes, so the climbing got tougher. Nearing the top of Mt Adams, the wind was punishing (who knows how fast, but certainly over 50 mph) and it felt a bit risky - didn't want to get blown off onto those rocks up there. So I didn't stay long, but the views were gorgeous. I went down Spur Trail, which was worse going, but at least I was heading down. The wind slowed down gradually. Descended via Chandler Fall and King Ravine.
Didn't see anybody all day - human or insect. A long, bruising, but fantastic day; if I were going back today, instead of licking my wounds, I'd carry snowshoes. Of course, the snow will be gone soon.
