Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: One that actually required you to think a little bit about where you wanted to step, but nothing crazy.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: I forget exactly where (I want to say between Klem and Round Pond?) there is a large blowdown that fell lengthwise in the trail. I'm sure the BRATTS team will handle it in no time, though.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw a couple having a great time.
Bugs
Bugs: Oh, they're coming. The breeze was enough to keep them away for the most part, but when the breeze stopped (and we stopped), they swarmed in a hurry. No biting yet, but I'm sure that will change.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: N/A

Comments
Comments: Spectacular day out in the Belk-Naps today! Trails were in surprisingly good conditions given the rain over the past week. Mud was mostly manageable, and the majority of the trail was drier than expected.

Original plan was to do the whole BRT from Major to Rowe, but we got to Gunstock and saw about 15 people chilling on the Pub deck, drinking beers they had stashed in the snow patch right below the deck. We could see our cars, knew we had our own beers (and tacos) waiting, so it was a no-brainer to bang down the ski slopes and spend an hour in the glorious sun just soaking in the day.

Folks, I'm not gonna tell you not to torture yourself with the absolute garbage trail conditions in the Whites, but...you do you :)
