I called the hatchery the day before and they explained that they haven't had to close the gates at 4 for the past year, but may at resume doing so at any time if there's any vandalism on the property.

Comments
Comments: Trail is in generally good shape, with just a few blowdowns. On and off stable monorail begins about halfway up Bunnell Notch Trail. Spikes were necessary near the junction of Bunnell Notch and Kilkenny Ridge up till the summit. Lots of soft snow on either side of the monorail on Kilkenny Ridge. Our original plan was to hike the full loop with Unknown Pond Trail, however, the trail from the Summit on towards the Unknown Pond was unmarked and somewhat difficult to follow, so we played it safe and turned back.
