First 3ish miles on 19 mile were snow free, but it was a running river after the junction of Carter Dome tr. Snow started after that, but I was able to bare boot to the junction for Wildcat. At that point the snowshoes went on and stayed on till the snow petered out on the ski trail and I was VERY happy I had them. Saw a couple peeps on spikes doing out and backs from the ski trail and they were working hard. The trip up A was as steep as it usually is and a little scary, but the snow was so sticky it wasn’t too bad with the snowshoes. I was the second person up in the last 2 days. The ridge was a bit churned up, but wasn’t terrible yet. A few rocks here and there, but nothing worth taking the shoes off for. Ski trail is deteriorating rapidly, but the first half was great. This week is gonna make a mess of things. Be safe out there! |
