Tecumseh was prime for the taking today. Bare boots for the first mile or so. Stretches of dry trail/rocks, wet leaves, some standing water and mud. After the last water crossing, we put on our rock spikes. Small patches of frozen monorail to start mixed in around the exposed rock. Once you make the turn up hill at the ski slope viewpoint the trail increasing gets better. What a surprise! The monorail disappears and you have a firm, wide snow pack to walk on. No issues with post holing. At the summit loop, the monorail became more evident, but still solid. The summit rocks were free of snow and made for an enjoyable half hour of viewing. The snow was a bit soft on the descent, with some spike sliding. It made for a quick descent. Overall, a fantastic day! |
