Comments
Comments: Conditions have deteriorated on Cannon/Kinsman Ridge Trail since Monday's trail reports. First off, the ice on the Cannon Mtn tower is melting off and crashing to the ground around the tower. Be very cautious about approaching it because it could hit you.

A monorail begins on the Kinsman Ridge Trail at 2500 (500' from the tram lot). You can bareboot around it to about 3000'. From then on I would recommend full crampons because there is a fresh snow layer above ice/slush and longer spikes will give you the best traction going up so you can reach the more solid ice/slush layer. Coming down is treacherous without long spikes because it is very easy to slip on the high angle portion of the trail (ask me how I know). The monorail above 3000' is supportive in the shade, but collapsing in the sun. Good luck. I consider these conditions to be atrocious.
