Early start at 6AM with headlamp for about 20 minutes. I put on stabilicers when ice started about 1 mile in on Airline Trail.
Temps ranged from 20 to 35 degrees, a light breeze at times but mostly calm. Blue sky and sunny, a really nice day on the northern Presis. I saw 28 hikers today all over these trails. I did not see the Madison Moose.
Above treeline mostly bare rock with some snow, below treeline about 1 inch of snow and ice on rocks and ledges.
Finished at 5PM, a long day but well worth it due to the great weather. |
