Comments
Comments: Rocky Branch is a mess. Partially monorail that is unstable, partially a river. The Engine Hill bushwhack requires snowshoes, or else thigh deep post holes that would make it take way too long. Others turned around because they did not have snowshoes. It is very easy to get turned around in the bog, so make sure you are confident in your navigation. The ISO bushwhack is brutal and probably just about done for the winter. The river crossing on it was extremely sketchy, and will only get worse with more snow melt. Submerged up to mid calf in the good spots, and moving extremely fast. Expect wet feet and boots the whole hike. There is no avoiding the breaking snow bridges and river down the middle of the trail.
