 | Comments: |
Started in rock spikes. First mile bare rocks and ice, switched to snowshoes after the first brook crossing. The the trail was wide and hard packed up to the camp spur trail. It was a mixed bag of conditions after that, postholes where the snow had drifted and an elevated monorail that was at some sections too narrow for snowshoes, but they were the best foot traction for the conditions. Back to micros for the Osgood trail, deep drifts at the start, then mostly bare rock, the ice areas can be avoided. The micros were helpful for traction in the 45mph wind, the crab crawl took on a whole new meaning.
