Comments
Comments: Beautiful and windy day. Did not see a soul out there .Beaver brook short cut and first 1/2 mile of Galeriver is without snow or ice.The trail has monorail for a bit with patches of mud , water and ice and snow then gradually becomes all snow which is perfect for snow shoes. The snow was soft even in the early hours but manageable in snow shoes all the way to Galehead summit and South Twin summit. At times I was sinking in 1 to 2 inches in some of the sunny spots. All in all good snow shoe track , North twin spur was worse but again manageable , north twin trail still soft snow for snow shoes and lower elevation had lots of open water and rock crossing to navigate. Little River was moving I was able to cross but feet hit water a bit on submerged rocks not a concern since it was the end of my day. There is a log bridge further upstream that can be used, I am afraid of heights so forded the river instead .Now is a great time to find your beat up snow shoes and rock spikes and put them to use --today and tommorrow should see more melt . Be safe have fun out there.
