Even with the recent warm days, there's still enough snow that Gunstock could be in operation.
Patchy natural snow in the woods down low, but consistent thereafter. Upper and lower Recoil glades (1,400 feet in elevation and up) have virtually full natural snow cover still and were being skied this afternoon. It should be noted that the Brook Trail traverses through these glades and has not seen any foot traffic. The very bottom of the Brook Trail looks to be mostly bare, but once hitting these glades and thereafter, snowshoes are needed.
Ski trails still have mostly full cover (except the plowed access road, which still hasn't melted out). Take caution if skiing the eastern most trails (e.g. Gunpowder, Gunstock), as they recently did some widening/brushing and therefore there are chips/slash on the trails.
Beautiful spring afternoon with partly sunny skies, temperatures in the 60s, and some strong wind. |
