Comments
Comments: Ski trails (lower, middle, upper polecat); Wildcat Ridge Trail

Snowshoes car to car (well, as soon as I got onto the ski trails). Surface snow quite soft, even in the AM, but firm base under most of the ski trails. Snowshoes worked well - love the televators for those climbs! Once at the top of the ski area, the destruction begins! The trail up to Wildcat D is a complete mess of boot tracks (likely skiers just walking up in the soft snow). Managed it in the SS due to the relatively soft snow conditions, but really challenging. From D over to C the trail has numerous post holes and is very rough and falling apart. Snow quite soft all day and got softer as the day went on. There is some early formation of a raised monorail in a few places, but very narrow and unstable. From C over to A the conditions were slightly better (perhaps some of the bare booters/spikes turned around, not sure!), but still pretty messy, particularly on the climbs. Managed all in my snowshoes, but not sure my lonely snowshoes helped improve things too much! I guess will be moot this week, as I am sure many will be out there contributing to the destruction as the trails soften further. Still 4 - 5 feet of snow up on the ridge. Glad to get these done for April and grid them out!
