Comments
Comments: The trails were barely supportive enough for spikes(snowshoes got a free ride today), step an inch or two off the hard pack and you risk postholing 2 or 3 feet down. Ice is starting to show in the steep sections on Fishing Jimmy and Kinsman Ridge trail heading up towards Cannon. The section of trail going over the Cannon Balls was lightly used and foot placement was critical to not pop thru. On the way out things were softening up and getting greasy. I don't imagine these conditions will last much longer and snowshoes will become a necessity to avoid postholing and ruining the fragile base...just saying
