Comments
Comments: Gale River Trail is in great shape - very little post holing. It made for an easy ascent after the overnight deep freeze. Mashed potatoes coming down - wore snowshoes. Galehead frost trail also in the same great shape. Heading up to South Twin was a bit frustrating due to large and frequent post holing. The snow had a breakable crust around the post holes which got warm, then froze in place, which made trying to fill it in next to impossible, even though under the crust the snow is soft. There were sections of decent trail interspersed with post holes to north twin, though once past south twin the crust gave way to softer snow, but those post holes are frozen in place and here to stay until the snow melts. It turned out to be a beautiful day and I didn't see a soul on the trail all day. Glad to have these done for April.
