Trails
Trails: Starr King Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Sunday, April 2, 2023
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked at the Starr King Trailhead. The lot was full, so I drove up to the end to turn around and park along the side of the road (plenty of room, and a few other vehicles did the same). But...the road is super icy at the top so need to be cautious of that.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Ice - Blue, Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes, Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The small, trickling streams were either snow bridged or very easy to step over. The snow bridges may not hold on much longer, but these are very easy to step over.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail in good condition. There are two duck unders to be mindful of, can be easy to run into them.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: My pup had a blast! We saw one other super friendly, happy pup!
Bugs
Bugs: None.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Nothing lost, nothing found.

Comments
Comments: Trail conditions were amazing today!!! Packed solid, but not completely smooth, and also some frozen post holes here and there, but really did not cause any issues. There was some blue ice at the beginning of the trail, and a couple of other patches up higher, but again, did not cause any issues. Hillsounds start to finish. And apologies, at the viewpoint beyond Waumbek summit, I meant to look to see if there had been any traffic continuing on beyond that point, and I completely forgot.
