Comments
Comments: It was a beautiful day to get Isolation for Spring. The snow was firm in the morning, since it had been cold at night. I wore spikes up to the summit. The snow was starting to ball up under my spikes the last 1/2 mile. The other two hikers in my group started in snowshoes. The bushwhacks are somewhat unconsolidated, snowshoes are better. There were a couple spots on the bushwhack where people went two different ways. It was easier on the way back. You can’t get lost because the incorrect path will join the more direct path. Be careful on the last steep section to the summit. The trail was broken too far to the left and it is on the top of spruce trees. Huge holes here. Be careful. Since the temperature was warming up, I put snowshoes on at the summit and wore them the rest of the day. With these warm temperatures and rain coming, don’t leave the snowshoes in the car. Postholing won’t be fun. the snow is very deep.
