Comments
Comments: This steep trail was in perfect condition today. You could have worn spikes up and back without any problems as the temps stayed below freezing all day. We chose to wear our shoes up to take advantage of the lifts. The trail is well consolidated from all the traffic and butt sliding. There were a few spots of hard ice but you could easily avoid. Too cold and hard pack snow for skiers today so crossings were fairly straightforward. Thankful for the prominent blue blazes through the four glades as the skiers crisscrossed those sections. Some postholes but they were mostly on the side of the trail. Very windy on the open summit push which made trail finding a bit challenging. Great views, beautiful trail conditions, and hiking with two great partners made for an awesome day on Cannon.
