Started at the basin and went to kinsman pond shelter via Kinsman pond trail. Broke trail up Kinsman pond. 6" at the time. But was very sticky and wet, tried but could not use the shoes. saw two sets of fresh bear tracks. Spent the night in the shelter. Hiked North and South. Kinsman Ridge is all beat down, though there are icy sections. good light traction is all that is needed until we have more snow. FJ was a bit Icy on the steeps, but almost dry on the southern exposed flats. Cascade brook was melting fast and very very wet.
The weather was very warm this weekend, most of the snow i saw friday was gone on my way down Saturday. |
