Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Main reason for writing this report since this storm is making it obsolete! I lost a snow-basket from trekking poke on Gulfside between Sphinx Col and Jefferson summit. Just on the other side of Sphinx col I found on my return a small, white circular plastic thingy. I cannot figure out what the hell it is but it does not appear to be trash. I suspect the 4 friendly gridders who were following me dropped it, and am hoping they picked up my basket. If so, let’s arrange a swap! Or if this little plastic doo-dah is yours I can return it if needed, regardless of whether or not you found my stray pole piece:)

Comments
Comments: predicted 25-40mph winds never showed up all morning. highest gust was maybe 25 on Jefferson summit at 10:30ish. It was completely calm for much of the ridge walk and I was comfortably in a t-shirt on the ascents. views were long and superb. Trail conditions were primo. Barebooted to just before gem pool. Wore mountaineering snowshoes from gem pool to Washington because I had them and because televators. Sharp hill sounds or crampons would also have been good here. switched to sharp hillsounds at summit and wore them to cog lot. trail remained very firm all the way down- no postholing except 4-5 errant steps off side of trail. Chatted with a friendly group of 4 gridiots, a group of 4 youngish men, and a friendly solo guy from Quebec, who was very excited about the lack of wind (as was I). A++ weather, conditions, and lack of humans this morning.
