Valley way was in fantastic shape. Left the car in micro spikes but quickly switched to snowshoes for the remainder of the day. The trail was firm but sticky so snowshoes made it much easier. Gulfside to madison was a mix of hard icy packed snow and small drifts but we had no issues using our snow shoes. We chatted with a group of 4 who appeared to go to adams via star lake and several other we could see coming down from adams via gulfside and airline. Would not recommend going star lake. Didn’t have time to hit both peaks today but conditions to do that would have been prime.
We saw about 30 other hikers out there all but one group of 6 were in snow shoes. Trail was getting stickier upon our descent back. Perfect weather day out there! . |
