Recommend snowshoes. Trail was packed to the summit loop, unbroken from there. We went up the north loop, down the south. The snowpack is at least 3' deep above 3000'. Three of us broke out the summit loop in snowshoes. The snow is dense and often came to our knees even in snowshoes. We had to do trail finding, especially on the south ridge where the tall trees are dead, the deep snow obscured any trace of a trail. Please excuse our backtracking and searching here and there, we quickly corrected. The deep snowpack puts you up in the branches, in many cases the "corridor" is not visible. |
