Comments: Needed Carrigain as one of the last few for our ssw48 so headed out planning on breaking trail since no reports since before the storm. One other car in lot when we started at 9:50. Bare booted for a bit on the road, but switched to snowshoes pretty quickly as even with snowmobile traffic the snow was a bit soft. Pleasantly surprised to find an awesome snowshoe trench when we got to beginning of signal ridge trail. Trail was well broken out up to junction where old trail splits to the left and across the river. A good amount of traffic must have been over to Carrigain notch as trail was way less broken out rest of the way to summit. We eventually met a hiker coming down who said one person had been through Wednesday and he was the second. So now 4 of us have been through, definitely the beginning of a nice track but still unconsolidated and drifted in places. Hiking in anything but snowshoes this weekend would be folly. Thanks very much to whoever broke it on Wednesday and the gentleman ahead of us today, your hard work is appreciated!
