Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Saw blue water ottle at the eginning of the steeps hanging in a tree. Someone hung my gloves which I dropped on a sign at the parking lot. thanks. In the snowbank at the parking pulloff some winter boots were left which appeared to be women's boots (brown with white fleece lining). I left them there as they were high enough up not to be affected by a snowplow (we hope).

Comments
Comments: There were a couple sets of snowshoe tracks ahead of me. I would say down low 7" new snow that increased to a foot on Mt Osceola Trail. It was powdery and unconsolidated. As the steeps began in some spots traction was difficult to maintain even with mountaineering snowshoes. Sometimes I gave up on the televators as slipping back in them is not ideal. There were nice views from lookouts near the summit and quite mild temps/wind. I saw the other two snowshoers descending from the summit with ice axes being used. On the ascent I was passed by one skier just before the steeps. He was headed to Mt Osceola but I'm not sure if he was bagging that as the plan was to ski off the northwest slide....since I do not know where that is positioned. ..wow! I listened to the plan with excitement like 'yeah, that oughta be fun!' (No!) He ditched the skis for crampons during the steeps and put them back on after the first viewpoint. The descent was the usual battle to stay upright There are a fair number of postholes in the steeps. Overall, the trail is unconsolidated and even with snowshoes expect to sink in spots as there has not been much traffic since the nor'easter.
