Pretty straightforward hike. Carter-Moriah Trail was a sidewalk from trailhead to summit. Conditions got softer as the temperature climbed above freezing towards noontime. Above 3000 feet, the evergreens seemed to crowd the already narrow path. Expect lots of shoulder poking, snow dumping, face slapping branches. Made the summit by 1 p.m - ish. A trio of Gray Jays shook me down for all the snacks I was willing to part with. (At least I got a couple of memorable photos). Trail conditions for the descent could best be described as mashed potatoes. Two hours and three ankle rolls later I made it back to the car and discovered I had a flat tire. Joy. Anyway, this one marks 28/48 for me. |
