8-10" snow with good density but still no real base, footing was tricky between rocks where snow hid voids. Wore snowshoes all the way up. Followed bareboot tracks to the jct. ,where they went to Webster. Broke trail to just before Tisdale spring where I met the barebooter, now in microspikes, downbound after his 2 peak loop. He mentioned difficulty finding the trail off the summit, and indeed after I got there , with the wind around 30mph, I had to look twice for it coming down myself, tracks were obliterated in 5 minutes.. Took the snowshoes off partway down, they kept getting caught between unseen rocks. Someone else snowshoed as far as the jct., so there's a decent path up there now. Traction is probably adequate 'til the next accumulation. |
