While the snow is melting quickly in the I-93 corridor due to unfrozen ground, there was a good 6-10" on the mountain, where much of the ground was frozen. Sort of a mid-weight New England powder, but not sticky.
Beelined it up the ski area and was glad to have snowshoes. Ski area is planning to open on Friday - I suspect on the upper mountain lifts only (ie above the hiking trail vista).
Sosman Trail was a decent snowshoe. Mt. Tecumseh Trail was a bit bony and will probably be best booted, perhaps with light traction, by the weekend (for now, only my snowshoe tracks, down to the first ski herd path, are in place). |
