A beautiful day in the mountains. Rick and I wore snowshoes for the entire hike, and the four hikers that we met on the trail were also wearing snowshoes. Trail was well packed, with a nice snowshoe trench and hardly any post holing, until we reached Middle Carter, then the stretch of C-M trail from there to NC trail was post holed and drifted over (at which point there were some faint tracks heading toward NC). There, coming down NC and Imp trails, which did have a packed snowshoe track, there were also a number of occasional, lone post holes, which were quite deep, and needed continual watching for to avoid--the edge of my snowshoe collapsed into one, for a near fall.
