 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
I parked on route 3 for three reasons. 1) Hikers are talking about there still being glass in the parking lot from the breakins last week. 2) I wanted to minimize the risk of someone breaking into my car. 3). The lot wasn’t plowed when I got there at 715am.
Even if the lot had been plowed, I was not planning to park in it. I don’t have anything valuable in my car but it would be super sad to come back from a beautiful hike to a broken car window. I had no issues today. |

 | Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular |
|
 | Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes |
|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
The main water crossing is mostly snow bridged and was stable for crossing. You can see faint tracks for the bypass using the snowmobile bridge, but those tracks are not recent. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Nothing new. Thank you for delimbing the duck unders! :) |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
I saw two giant dogs (R2D2 and Chewbacca - best dog names ever!) escorting their cross country skiing human on the road walk. |

 | Bugs: |
|

 | Lost and Found: |
Nothing today. |

Trail conditions are FANTASTIC!! There were four of us on this route today and everyone was in snowshoes. And the trail has literally no postholes so the snowshoe plan has been consistent for this trail, at least recently. FANTASTIC!!!
The base is packed but not firm so regardless of how much or how little snow we get tonight and Tue, snowshoes are still the right thing for this trail. I can’t even explain what a joy it is to snowshoe up an even, beautiful snowshoe track. FANTASTIC!!
I caught some great photos and will post them on IG shortly.
Stay safe, have fun!! |
