The trail is consolidated to the point of almost being ice (but is not ice.) Excellent conditions. Spikes from bottom to top (temps 35 at base, 27 at top.) If you are thinking of hiking these mountains now is the time to do it- it is a 5 lane superhighway to the summit at the moment. Spikes or trail crampons advised, saw one person in snowshoes today and they didn't seem to be the correct gear for the job [that does not make any sense; these are ideal conditions for mountain snowshoes such as MSRs and Tubbs Flex Alps]. |
