Comments
Comments: Spikes - car to summit and back. Trails are faaaaast going and packed from so much consistent cold over the past few days, great solid footing out there from initial snowshoes and then consolidated nearly to ice but all the snow took Hillsound spikes real well today. Bushwhacks could even be followed mindlessly; bushwhacks both had a few meandering old snowshoe tracks but it was super easy to follow the solid track. Minor ice following the swing N on Brutus, totally manageable though with a little care.

While I am totally an advocate for snowshoes, the few folks we saw today in shoes looked to be struggling to gain traction on the main Owls Head ascent/whack [this would not be the case if they had mountain snowshoes like MSRs or Tubbs Flex Alps]. Spikes all the way until temps warm again or any snow flies.

Minor 3-4" drift at the summit ridge, still easy to follow the path to the short stubby cairn.

Including a quick write up on Owls Head and the trails we took, link is included down below. Enjoy!

Happy Climbing!
