Comments
Comments: Spotted a car at the Zealand winter lot and hiked south to north. Used microspikes start to finish. Snowshoes and crampons went for a long ride [and should be brought]. Saw about 18 other hikers all day in microspikes. Thanks to the snowshoers who went out last week and laid down a good track. Ice at the top of the Hillary Step was a bit tricky. Easier if you have long legs. There were ice flows on Bondcliff and Guyot. They weren’t too bad. No problems with scramble going up West Bond. Lots of deep snowshoe post holes between Zealand and Zeacliff. The ladder below Zealand was partially snow covered with a few steps kicked in. Nice to stop off at the Zealand hut for a rest. The hut was full. Walked out with headlamps. Nice to check these peaks off for my winter 48. Congrats to Barb for gridding out the Bonds! Woo Hoo!
