Hillsounds the whole way today, snowshoes got a free ride. Debated donning them purely for the televators in the steep sections near the top of Glencliff, but didn’t feel like fiddling with them. Lower elevations have minimal snow/ice, only a couple inches deep, but the trail is still covered. Pretty stark comparison to areas of the Whites further north. Dust on crust higher up after reaching the Carriage Road. Trails are firm and fast. Beautiful views today, although quite windy in the exposed areas. This was my 2nd round of the Moose, but first extended above treeline experience in winter. Quite happy I packed full face protection and goggles. |
