| Dog-Related Notes: |
Steep trail but no technical difficulties. This is the type of trail, which is very steep, where I personally feel it is better not to cover the dog's claws with booties. Lauky's claws were often evident in the snow as he used them for grip. |

| Comments: |
The trail was well packed. Even with the new snow, it should, with a little effort, pack out again in fine fashion. It was very windy and cold above the treeline, good wind protection especially for the face very important. With no ice encountered Crampons were not necessary, but would have worked well on the packed trail. The first hikers through after the storm will absolutely need snowshoes. But, I would recommend MSRs. The trail is so steep that especially coming down it will be dicey with ordinary snowshoes. |
