Nothing besides the sorry excuse for a sign at Dodge Cut-Off junction and the bobsled track of a trail near the bottom of Kinsman Ridge trail. The latter is probably 5.5 - 6 feet deep now!! Time for a reroute. |

| Comments: |
Up Hi-Cannon and down Kinsman Ridge. Far more ice and snow than the day before on Garfield. 1/4 inch to 3/4 inches of snow from the start. Significant ice started just below the ladder on Hi-Cannon and continued to some degree to the summit. Some spots were very tricky but all three of us made it without stopping for Microspikes. Use of trees and poles was very necessary, however. I'd think most others would want traction.
Kinsman Ridge trail down, while present in spots, was less icy and much easier going. It is good that we went the direction we did. In the afternoon the snow at the bottom of Kinsman Ridge trail had melted.
Great views of Franconia Ridge and beyond from the summit viewing tower. I like hiking Cannon when the tram isn't running! |
