Comments
Comments: All trails consist of minimally consolidated snow adn snowshoes are recommended for hikes Sunday. Lonesome Lake Trail was the most consolidated to the hut and could be spiked although we used snowshoes. It should set up harder tonight. Spikes or snowshoes will work well to the hut. Above the hut on Fishin' Jimmy, the trail was less consolidated with lots of loose snow. Lots of people in spikes kept it loose. We wore snowshoes to smooth it back into shape. KRT saw a lot more snowshoe traffic to North and South Kinsman. It was in good snowshoe shape when we traversed in the late afternoon. Mt. Kinsman trail looked to be a good snowshoe track and loosely consolidated. KRT out to the Cannonballs has seen only limited tracking and was still a hard crust over some loose snow underneath. For tomorrow, Fishin' Jimmy Trail looks better for spikes and Mt. Kinsman Trail for snowshoes if you plan to hike to these two summits.
