Comments
Comments: Okay...so I was planning on writing about how great trail conditions would be tomorrow, but thanks to 3 bare booters, sadly I do not believe that will be the case :(
We started late, around 9:30am. There had already been some snowshoes ahead of us who broke trail, however, the trail was NOT packed, it was still very soft and needs more snowshoes. We were in shoes start to finish. After the hut, heading to the summit, there was one solo in shoes who said she had come from Garfield on the GRT (the only tracks) and after Galehead headed to South Twin (only tracks). Then there was a group of 9 coming off the summit in snowshoes and I was shocked! All 9 of them, plus the 2 of us, and we were not packing down the trail! Snow is so soft, definitely needs more snowshoe love!!! Even though the trails were soft, and still needed snowshoes, I was excited to report this, because even with shoes, tomorrow would be so nice! And then on our descent from hut, here comes 3 bare booters who totally TRASHED the trail. The descent was awful. And unless someone else went up in shoes tonight, which I highly doubt, the trail will be disgusting with frozen post holes on Sunday...Such a shame...
