Snowshoes all the way. Benefitted from a couple who snowshoed halfway up Boulder Loop and back but was slow progress breaking trail by myself the rest of the day, apart from the "major" routes up/down/around Mt Major, which had a pretty narrow trench and occasionally choppy. No recent traffic to/from the two Straightbacks so hard work on those stretches and needed to reference GPS routes regularly to keep (mostly) on the trail. My efforts won't help much as was more crust breaking than trail breaking, with depths from a 2-6 inches (and more when I strayed off trail). My tracks should at least help with navigation for the Straightbacks. |
