This is all going to change with the next storm moving in, but ...
Given the soft snow conditions, I went with snowshoes round-trip as they were the most effective means of travel. Everyone else I saw was either wearing spikes or bare boots, or had their snowshoes on their packs. It's irrelevant though as the incoming storm will reset things again and snowshoes will definitely be needed.
I'd only been on North Straightback Link once before, years ago, and guess I'd forgotten how steep that sucker is. Holy carp. I lost it briefly in one spot just before the top.
As expected, the highest density of people was on Major. Everywhere else was very quiet.
A gorgeous day in the range with the sun coming out around midday. Temps were comfortable and there was almost no wind. |
